Health Care Providers Experiencing Payment Delays

The Department of Financial Regulation (DFR) is actively monitoring the circumstances relating to healthcare provider payment delays as a result of BlueCross BlueShield of Vermont’s (BCBSVT) new payment system. The department has been working with BCBSVT and affected providers to understand the scope of the problem and how it will be resolved.  

In the meantime, BCBSVT is offering healthcare providers an interest free advance until the issue is resolved. Additionally, any claims paid over 30 days will be entitled to 12% interest for the duration of the delay.  

DFR encourages healthcare providers and consumers with specific questions or concerns to contact either:

  • BCBSVT members and healthcare providers can contact:
    • Member Services at 800-247-2583, or 
    • Provider Relations at 888-449-0443, Option #1.

The department will provide periodic updates as new information becomes available.
