The Department seeks an experienced actuary interested in the opportunity to work on a wide range of issues including actuarial analysis of property and casualty rate and form filings; financial and market conduct examination and analysis, research, statistical analysis and reporting on insurance companies and insurance markets; and technical analysis and advice to the Insurance Division. This individual will help facilitate achievement of the Insurance Division's statutory mission to ensure reasonable and orderly competition in Vermont's insurance markets and protection and education of Vermont's insurance consumers. Duties are performed with significant independence under the general direction of the Director of Insurance Regulation.

Insurance Examiner-In-Charge

As an Examiner-in-Charge (EIC) for the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation, Captive Insurance Division, your primary responsibilities include examinations and ongoing oversight of Vermont domiciled captive insurance companies. Utilizing a risk-focused approach, an EIC leads a team of examiners in evaluating areas of captive insurance company operations and business practices, including corporate governance, strategy, business plan, IT systems, internal controls, financial reporting and regulatory compliance. An EIC also conducts research, is assigned special projects, and conducts annual and quarterly surveillance for a portfolio of companies. An EIC must be self-motivated and possess strong time management, organization, critical thinking and communication skills.

Utilizing a risk-focused approach, an Examiner will evaluate areas of captive insurance company operations and business practices, including corporate governance, strategy, business plan, IT systems, internal controls, financial reporting and regulatory compliance to ensure that the captive insurance company is able to meet its obligations to insureds and is compliant with Vermont regulations.

Executive Director - Department of Financial Regulation - Exempt
