Overview
The Department seeks an experienced actuary interested in a challenging opportunity that includes handling a wide range of issues including:

  • actuarial analysis of property and casualty rate and form filings
  • financial and market conduct examination and analysis
  • research
  • statistical analysis
  • insurance company and insurance markets reporting
  • technical analysis and advice source for Insurance Division

The successful candidate will help advance the Insurance Division statutory mission to ensure reasonable and orderly competition in Vermont's insurance markets as well as protection and education of insurance consumers. Preferred Qualifications: 
Bachelor's degree or higher in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or related field.

Overview
The Market Conduct Examiner (MCE) performs highly complex work involving planning and coordinating market conduct examinations of insurers. Market conduct examinations are done under the direction of the Director of Market Regulation (Director) and require significant interaction with management level staff of insurer organizations. This position requires travel for field examinations and/or meetings of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Interaction with high-level industry personnel may be anticipated, sometimes in adversarial situations. The successful candidate must have insurance industry or regulatory experience.
