Financial Exams

All domestic insurance companies undergo an independent financial statement audit annually. In addition, the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation performs financial examinations on all domestic insurance companies licensed to conduct business in the state at least once every five years. These examinations determine compliance with Vermont insurance laws and regulations and evaluate company solvency. All financial examinations are performed in accordance with Vermont statutes and regulations and use of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ Financial Condition Examiners Handbook.
